"I am so pleased to have moved to the San Diego area (America's finest city!) and to work with Oscar Velazquez, the spanish minister here, and the good brethren and the shepherds at Johnson Ave. It is a real privilege to serve as their evangelist. I am especially impressed and pleased to work with six visionary shepherds, nine committed deacons and hundreds of members who love the Lord and each other. The congregation here is serious about growing and they have made it clear that I am here for mission, not maintenance. I appreciate their emphasis very much and we share in the same vision as to what a local congregation can and should be. I am excited about what the Lord plans for our future together.
My wife and I are both dedicated to working with the leadership, building up the congregation here, and spreading the gospel in the community! Brent Hunter and his wife Gail moved to Johnson Ave, and began serving as our evangelist in August of 2010. Brent takes very seriously his responsibilities to "preach the word" both to the saved and to the lost. He combines a high level of training as a administrator, preacher, counselor, and teacher.
In addition to being available for Bible studies for anyone who is interested, on a limited basis, Brent provides couples with Bible based marriage counseling.

Bio/Background: Prior to beginning his work with Johnson Ave, Brent served for twenty-one years as the evangelist for the North Street church in Tampa, preached for three years for the Zephyrhills, FL congregation and four years for the Oldham Woods church in La Grange, KY. Brent also taught Bible, Communications and Marriage and Family at Florida College for 18 years and then spent seven years as the college's Director of Development. Brent is a certified seminar facilitator for the Family Dynamics Institute and licensed to administer the Prepare and Enrich diagnostic tool for premarital and marital counseling. Since the early nineties Brent has directed his efforts on marriage and family enrichment and conducts marriage and parenting seminars with a focus towards preventing problems. Brent also studies and helps churches with church growth and evangelism. Brent is also the author of "Personal Evangelism 101 - Fencing Lessons in Wielding the Sword of the Spirit".
